Napa, the county seat for one of the world’s greatest wine growing regions, is located in the southern region of the Napa Valley approximately 70 miles north of the San Francisco Bay area.  The area that is now the city of Napa was settled in the 1830’s by American farmers and founded by Nathan Coombs in 1847.  Today, Napa is a vibrant and growing city with a mostly white-collar population of around 76,000 and an economy based largely on tourism.

There is no shortage of things to do or see in Napa.  The Mediterranean-style climate with warm, dry summers and cool, wet winters makes it the perfect year-round destination.  No visit to Napa would be complete without taking a ride on the Napa Valley Wine Train.  Once onboard you can sit back and enjoy the scenery while enjoying local wines and a gourmet lunch before disembarking for tours of some of the finest local wineries.  You won’t want to miss seeing the large, beautifully done hand-painted murals created by the Napa Chamber of Commerce that are displayed on the sides of select downtown buildings.

Visitors who enjoy shopping will enjoy the unique shopping experiences available in Napa.  The Napa Premium Outlets is a popular destination for shoppers, as are the numerous specialty shops located in Downtown Napa.  With forty-six Zagat rated restaurants and twenty-one wine bars, eating and drinking should not prove a problem!
